There is an app gaining popularity in the US of A called Tea that had the stated use case of “helping women avoid going on dates with criminals”.

In reality it was a gossip app that was used by women to spread gossip and private information “anonymously”. Like penis size, how good is he in bed, and other private information about him.

It is truly a scummy application that behaved almost like it was designed for stalking and harassing men.

You can set it up to get a notification every time a new post about a man you followed was made. You can reverse image search men, find them from their phone numbers, and literally get their home addresses and social media accounts.

In a piece of poetic justice, the women leaking private information about men to strangers on the internet have their own private information leaked to strangers on the internet.

As it turns out, Tea was developed by amateur developers using AI who know little about information security. There is nothing wrong with being an amateur developer, but at some point you need to hire security auditors especially if you’re collecting people’s IDs.

Also they were lying about their data retention and security practices.

They were keeping user information like their selfies, photos of their government IDs, and more on unsecured public APIs which anyone can access (no password, no encryption). So someone downloaded all of their data and put it on a torrent.

The download link went viral and thousands of people have the entire database. This is not a true “hack” because there was no breach of access. Everything was accessible from a public endpoint that required no credentials. In other words, it’s 100% the company’s fault.

There are several takeaways from the app leaks that I wish to discuss in this piece.

Tea Lied About Everything – MOST Companies Do.

If you read Tea’s Privacy Policy, you come across this (emphasis added by me):

During the registration process, users are required to submit a selfie photo for verification purposes. This photo is securely processed and stored only temporarily and will be deleted immediately following the completion of the verification process.

If you scroll a bit further, you see this:

Tea Dating Advice takes reasonable security measures to protect your Personal Information to prevent loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

AHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Basically they just lied.

And they are not alone.

Here’s something you should know: MOST companies lie about data security and retention in their privacy policy.

Very few of them actually delete anything and many of them are so careless that they store passwords in plaintext.

Looks like the only people who care about their readers and users are guys like me. I shut my startup down instead of selling it because I didn’t want to risk the privacy of my anonymous users. You can read the full statement here.

And we had less than 0.1% of the userbase that these large companies like Tea have. Just because a company is large does not automatically mean they have better security policies or management that actually gives a shit.

The mindset for the majority of them is “get the money and users quick, have an exit, and fuck everything else”.

Never Trust Anyone With Your Data

Go and put your email into Have I Been Pwned. Because you probably have.

Don’t give private companies with your ID cards where possible and never re-use important passwords anywhere.

I am aware that several countries are passing laws that mandate ID collection for using various internet services (like pornography).

While it sounds like a good move on the face of it, you are forcing everyone to hand over their IDs to random porn websites.

Most people aren’t going to stop watching porn because it’s harder to watch. They will just give their government issued IDs to some porn companies.

I predict that various honeypot sites will be created with very enticing videos just to farm people’s IDs.

Pakistan is an Islamic country where being gay is punishable by death in their religion. You literally go to hell for being gay (and apparently heaven for being a terrorist). And Pakistan is still the world’s largest consumer of gay porn.

If the threat of death and going to hell doesn’t stop people from watching porn, do you think a popup asking for an ID will?

We already know most people are not smart enough to use VPNs.

So it’s a bad move overall in my opinion even if the intentions are good. You are forcing people to give up their ID cards to porn companies.

All the women look like shit.

Who is the type of person who would sign up to an app to spread gossip about people? The losers of the world.

The vast majority of the women in the leaks are overweight, clearly in bad health, and show signs of mental illness.

Now I’m not going to post the images on the site but you can easily find them on X or from the magnet download links if you’re curious.

Note: I’m not sure about the legality of downloading the dump, so to be clear – I’m not asking or recommending that you do it. Merely saying that it is possible.

The average Tea user.

All I can say is that after looking at these women, I can totally understand why white people tried to get on boats and to find distant lands at great risk of death and disease.

If the women in my country looked like this, I too would focus on colonizing Africa to take my frustration out on the world.

The jokes aside, the takeaway is this:

The more overweight and fucked up a woman is, the more likely she is to be extreme left wing.

The more likely they are to worry about “men being evil”.

They do not realize that men see them as casual sex material and not long term material *because* they are either too old, or too fat, or too mentally deranged (colored hair, etc).

Societal collapse in America.

The Tea app is primarily an app for women in the dating market and is restricted to the USA only. The app apparently has 4 million users. All are American women.

And the app has only just started getting popular.

There are about 70 million women in America aged between 18 and 50, so a very considerable percentage of the women in the “broad dating age range” are using this app.

About 2% of young women in America are making hardcore pornography on Onlyfans. Combine other forms of prostitution and the numbers would be even higher.

We cannot judge the women alone because it takes two to tango. For every prostitute showing her body on OnlyFans, there are men who are paying to see it.

Basically the USA is progressing economically and technologically but regressing culturally and societally.

In the long term this will (and already is) lead to problems like the breakdown of the family using, more depression, suicide, low birth rate, more single parents, crime, etc.

Very hard to predict long into the future but the bad outcomes are either that it will be a slow grueling decline or we will see some kind of Hitler 2.0 elected to clean up Weimar Republic 2.0.

Not good. Especially given that they possess the most powerful military and weaponry in the world.

The happier outcomes could be some kind of religious resurgence or big social movement (of the kind feminism was) to try to clean up the mess.

Or perhaps the end of fiat currency will also end the funding for the degeneracy. There are many arguments in favor of this:

  • Harder to get payouts from divorce because the currency cannot be confiscated
  • Puts an end to government sponsored social destruction like abortion and gender change clinics (USAID type stuff)
  • Weaken corrupt institutions
  • Reduce government revenues (government funds degeneracy as we saw with the USAID stuff)
  • Etc.

It seems like the most peaceful and the ideal solution.

Who knows what will happen. We shall see.

Most people should buy 1 Bitcoin while they still can. Easiest way to secure your future. In the future most people will work for satoshis.

Tea is proof of concept of large scale vibe coded apps.

Tea is a vibe coded app that had millions of users. Vibe coding basically means using lots of AI generated code instead of writing actual code yourself.

This has never happened before. A vibe coded app that has millions of users.

Basically in the future, you will not have to be an expert coder to make useful and marketable apps. Anyone with the brains and balls could do it without needing to learn coding.

Currently the AI tools don’t work perfectly but they will keep getting better and better and eventually it will be a reality.

Security Audits as a Service

This means if someone is young, there is a lot of opportunity in learning how to audit the security of web applications.

Anything critical would need a human security audit to prevent massive data breaches. And since the guys making the apps won’t know how to code, they will need external people to audit security for them.

This is already the case in other high stakes coding environments like crypto. Users do not trust dApps that don’t have their smart contracts security audited.

If Tea had hired security auditors, this would not have happened and they would have continued to gain more and more popularity.

Future developers are less likely to make such mistakes now that awareness is higher.

AI and VR will add limitless new things to the world

I mean things like Meta glasses that look like regular glasses.

These are already available for purchase. They can take photos, accept voice commands, livestream, etc.

The technology will keep getting better and sleeker.

So basically in the future, instead of Tea you might have an app on a pair of glasses that shows you the “ratings” for each person you see. Like the Chinese style social credit system.

Or have apps that use AI to make everyone you see look like an animal, or make them nude, or whatever else. The real time version of Snapchat filters.

Perhaps the most interesting use cases are the one we cannot predict.

People Becoming Technologically Illiterate

You ever wonder why your grandparents can’t use computers even though computers came into the market when they were young?

They had the money and the ability to learn. But they didn’t.

Basically, after you hit 25, you become more and more reluctant to use new technology. You “prefer” old technology.

How many have never even made a transaction with crypto (many don’t even know how it works)?

How many 25+ year olds still use Google as their primary search engine?

How many of them have never generated an AI image?

How many of them “hate smartwatches”?

What is going to happen to all of these 25-40 year olds is that in 30 years, they will be the tech illiterate senior citizens. Behind the times.

As the tech advances more and more, it becomes harder and harder to catch up. How hard would it be for your grandma to learn linux? That’s how hard it would be for many young people today to maximally use future tech because they are too reluctant to keep up.
