Why Most Creators and Artists Are Left Wing

If you have a look at artists, creators, and celebrities, you will see that most of them are politically left wing. (I’m going to call them all “creators” in this post as a matter of convenience.)

You would not be wrong if you said that 9 out of 10 artists and creators are left wing.

Why is this the case?

People who have no experience creating or selling art (writing, podcasts, books, creative work, etc.) think that the reason is because left wing people are more likely to be creators.

But this is not actually the case.

The reason why most creators are left wing is NOT because there is something inherently special about being left wing that encourages people to become creators, or anything inherent in creators that draws them to the left wing.

The reason why the vast majority of creators are left wing is that it PAYS to be left wing.

People who create right wing content learn very quickly that it is very difficult to earn any money from a right wing audience.

Right wing people are overall extremely stingy with their money regardless of whether they are rich or middle class or poor. They have a scarcity mindset where they only spend money if they are *sure* of profiting off it.

Right wing people EXPECT creators to promote what they believe is “truth” but they themselves act like creators have secretly discovered alchemy and are able to convert rocks to gold to be able to pay the bills.

The reality is that most creators also have to pay rent, want to go out to eat once in a while, have to pay for a family, have children’s expenses, etc. and DO NOT have a magic ability to turn inferior metals into gold.

When the rubber meets the road, right wing creators realize that they are MUCH better off being left wing.

Left wing audiences spend money to attain cultural dominance and find ways to reward those who support them. It is MUCH easier for left wing creators to get brand deals, sponsors, donations, ad revenue, and other income than it is for right wing creators.

The left wing has spent a long time building an entire ecosystem that ensures that creators/artists/famous people who support them get paid.

So if you’re popular and left wing, you WILL be reached out to by brands, be offered sponsorship deals, speaking gigs, be given awards to help you build your brand, etc. This is not by accident.

This is a well coordinated system that strongly incentivizes creators to support the left wing.

The right wing on the other hand is too stupid and too stingy to build financial incentives for creators.

Stingy because they do not want to spend any money unless they see a direct and proven ROI from the spend.

Stupid because they do not understand the value of dominating culture. There is a reason why publicly expressing right wing opinions gets you blackballed in most places, and publicly expressing left wing opinions makes you seem sophisticated.

The left wing dominates culture so heavily that it is implicitly understood that you will literally lose business opportunities by being right wing.

Combined with the stinginess of normal right wing people (they will spend weeks thinking and reading reviews before they spend $50 on something you created)… the right wing creators basically either die out, or are forced to pivot to the left wing if they want to make any money.

You can ask any right wing creator and they will tell you that this is the truth.

To quote Mike Cernovich, who is a popular right wing creator who helped Trump get popular:

It DOES NOT pay to be a right wing creator. It is much much harder to make a living being a right wing creator than it is to make money being a left wing creator.

If you want to be a creator, publicly supporting the left wing is the choice that most people end up making because even though you are not entitled to anyone’s money, you still need it to live a good life.

If you want to make political content, you will learn this lesson too very quickly.

The only people who disagree are people who do not have experience in the creator business (a large percentage of right wing people are armchair theorists who will gladly give you a lecture, but will never give you any of their money).
