I’ve been in the health and fitness space on the internet for many years, far longer than many of my younger readers. I’ve seen many trends and fads come and go, some more ridiculous than others.

  • Cold showers or you’re a pussy
  • Sun your asshole or you’ll get cancer
  • Squishing oil in your mouth to get rid of toxins
  • Don’t touch receipts or you’ll become a gay frog
  • Intermittent fasting as the only way to lose weight
  • Avoiding every little bit of vegetable oil and soy lecithin
  • Eat less than 2 meals a day or you’ll spike your blood sugar too much and get diabetes
  • “Carbs are the enemy” (eating bread almost turned you into an outcast in some spheres)
No, I do not have copper rivets in my shoes to allow for a continuous flow of electrons being delivered via my fascia

Right now the fad trend in the health space is “Palm oil is the devil’s urine and you should only consume saturated fats”.

These fads trends come and go and the guys who obsess over them don’t get any real results.

This is because to get results in life, you have to work on things that move the needle. The BOTTLENECK.

Let’s say you are an overweight individual (defined as “stomach not flat”).

Now you can go and replace every single drop of vegetable oil with ghee, eat organic instead of regular food, avoid touching receipts and polyester to avoid “estrogen” (lol), but guess what – unless you are losing fat, it makes very little difference.

Why?

Because your bottleneck was not the vegetable oils or the pesticides in food, or estrogen from receipts (which is negligible). The bottleneck to your health was you being overweight.

If you dedicated your attention to losing fat (say with a 1000 calorie deficit to lose fat hand over fist), you would get far more benefits than worrying about every last drop of vegetable oil or non-organic food in your diet.

In fact, any major effort you put into anything else that wasn’t actively helping you lose fat was wasted effort.

Overweight guy sunning his asshole? Waste of time.

Avoid every bit of soy in his food? Waste of time.

Cold shower to “increase testosterone”? WASTE OF TIME.

Go for a walk instead and burn some calories.

This applies to everything, not just the health space.

Put your effort where it brings maximum results.

If you’re having money problems, the solution is not saving every last cent and living a miserly life.

The solution is finding ways to make more money (online or offline). Because unless you have a major overspending problem, the bottleneck is income.

If you’re having girl problems, find out the bottleneck and work on that.

If you can’t get any matches or any female attention whatsoever, the problem could be your appearance (too much fat, not enough muscle, bad posture, etc.). If that’s the case, you need to build your body to attract more women.

If you can get dates but can’t get second dates, the problem is your personality. Work on it and make yourself a more appealing man to be around.

If girls will date you and sleep with you but only when you offer monogamous commitment, the problem is likely you presenting yourself as “boyfriend material”. Fix that and you can have many women at the same time.

The point is that no matter what you are trying to improve, you need to put your effort into whatever is going to produce maximum returns.

Sounds simple enough, yet you see so many people falling for social media trends and putting their effort in things that bring minimum returns.

Don’t be like them.
