Subj: How to be more attractive and look good for men

The easiest way to improve your quality of life is to improve your looks.

Better-looking men get more attention from women, more attention from other men, people trust good looking people more, they are more likely to get the job – in other words, unless you’re trying to blend in, there’s literally no reason to not try to look your best.

And looking good is not that hard. In fact, if you are fit and have a reasonable amount of muscle, half the work is already done.

This article can help both men and women; however, it’s oriented towards men. Let’s get right into it:

1. Get in Shape

All good looking men are in shape and it’s almost impossible to look good if you’re fat.

When you are fat, not only are you hurting your health, but you’re also showing the world how little you care about yourself.

The whole pot belly and man boobs is just not a good look.

Lose the weight and get some muscles.

Try to get your body fat percentage under 15% and try to get as much muscle size as you naturally can.

Eat fewer calories AND lift weights – when you’re fat, you can gain muscle and lose weight at the same time.

Add in cardio to your workout routine to enhance your stamina and lung capacity.

When you lose weight, not only does your body look good – your skin and facial structure also improve.

For example, here’s a picture of Elon Musk, the founder of Paypal, Tesla, SpaceX, and a host of other companies:

Even when you ignore the hair, in the image on the left he has a soft jawline that makes him look like a chump.

The image on the right shows that he’s developed a strong, well-defined jawline that makes him look more dominant, masculine, and younger – despite being almost 20 years older.

It’s like he’s aged in reverse.

This is because as you workout more, your body corrects your hormones – the testosterone levels in your body rise, estrogen, and cortisol fall in place, etc.

Testosterone is the hormone that makes men different from women – it makes men stronger, more aggressive, dominant, muscular and it makes their bodies more rugged.

Eat right, exercise, and you’ll see your body automatically correct your hormones – a night and day difference in how you look (and feel!).

Another advantage of being fit is that your clothes will look better on you, which brings me to:

2. Improve Your Fashion Sense

Make sure your clothes fit well.

This sounds obvious, but you’ll be surprised how often people wear clothes that just don’t fit right – either too loose or too tight.

You can wear loose t-shirts when you’re at home because they’re so comfortable, but not when you’re going out.

An ill-fitting t-shirt will make you look average all around.

More often than not, the proportions are bad, and their shirts have excessive fabric around their tummy.

Get your clothing altered by a tailor if necessary.

Make sure your clothes are high quality, are comfortable, and most importantly, clean.

Pick the right colors according to your skin tone.

And no matter what you do, don’t wear one of those printed quote/cartoon t-shirts outside the gym.

You don’t need to break the bank on clothing – but don’t skimp on clothing.

How you dress is the first thing people see about you, and first impressions last the longest.

If you live in a cold country, consider wearing a suit when going out – suits look good and project power.

3. Fix Your Posture

Bad posture is something that plagues both fit and not-so-fit people alike. Fixing it will instantly make you look more attractive.

If you’re forced to sit in front of a computer for 8 hours a day – your posture probably sucks.

Here are a few things you need to take care of:

a) Rounder Shoulders

Rounded shoulders make you look like a wimp.

You’ll need to actually exercise your shoulder muscles and consciously make an effort to push the shoulder blades in their correct place.

Work on your back muscles in the gym: do lats, rows, deadlifts, and shrugs. Do “pull” exercises.

b) Forward Neck (text neck)

This is an outcome of text messaging and staring on your phone screen looking downwards all day.

It makes you look like a chicken: weak, nervous and unconfident.

Stand against a wall every day for a few minutes with your head straight until this is fixed.

Use your smartphone with proper posture.

MANUALLY push your head backward with your hands every few hours to help set it straight.

c) Anterior Pelvic Tilt

Anterior pelvic tilt is a prominent arch in your lower back created by your hip bone as a result of tilting forward … also due to excessive sitting.

(It’s almost like the human body was not built to sit on a chair all day.)

You need to strengthen your glutes and hamstrings and core muscles – do squats and kettlebell swings.

Consciously maneuver your pelvis forward – watch this video:

Note: If you notice that you have even one of the above issues – rounded shoulders, forward neck, anterior pelvic tilt – you probably have all three. Consider hiring a physiotherapist to help guide you.

4. Grooming

You need to get a proper professional haircut.

You can also get a funky haircut provided it suits your personality and work profile.

If you have a beard (and I recommend keeping a short beard because it makes you look masculine), keep it well groomed so you don’t look homeless (even I’m guilty of letting this slide every once in a while considering how often it needs to be done).

Chest hair is good – don’t wax your body like some men now do – you’re not in the modeling industry.

Body hair makes you look manly and strong.

Trim your ear and nose hair; they should not be visible from the outside.

5. Take Care of Your Skin

A lot of men never take care of their skin because they think sitting and applying moisturizer is a feminine thing.

Over time, the lack of care starts to show up in the form of wrinkles, loose inelastic skin, and an “old” saggy look.

Get a moisturizer that’s quick to absorb and take a minute to rub it into your skin every day.

You won’t notice the difference when you’re young, but you’ll thank yourself as you get older.

Consider supplementing with vitamin E – vitamin E is an antioxidant that’s great for your skin and hair. (Medical Disclaimer)

6. Take Care of Your Teeth

This goes without saying – brush your teeth and make sure your mouth smells fresh.

If you have a fair skin complexion, you can have slightly yellow teeth without it impacting your looks.

If you are black / have dark skin, white teeth look much better than yellow teeth.

Brush your teeth with salt and activated charcoal (India, USA) once a month.

Activated charcoal has lots of small holes on its surface, making it almost sponge-like and can soak up a variety of chemicals and biological films that are stuck to your teeth.

(Don’t do it too often though – it’s slightly abrasive to your teeth. Once a month is good enough.)

If you have any calculus on your teeth, get it removed by a dentist.

That’s all there is to it when it comes to improving your physical appearance.

There’s also body language and your overall “vibe” that comes into the picture for your overall personality – but that’s a whole another article in itself.

If you can strike all of the above points, I assure you that you’ll look better than 99.9% of the people out there.

“It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” ― Socrates

Hope this helps.
